Looking Forward to Conference Games

Trinity University’s softball team travelled for the first time this past weekend.  On Saturday they played in Marshall, Texas against East Texas Baptist University (ETBU).  ETBU is the number one NCAA Division III team in the nation having won the national championship in 2010.

The teams played a double header on Saturday afternoon.  Trinity played well for facing the top team in the nation but unfortunately ended the day with two losses.  The scores to the two games were 4-2 and 5-0 consecutively.

A major highlight of the games was when sophomore outfielder Lindsay Weyand, from Allen, Texas, blasted a single-run homerun in the top of the seventh inning.  Junior outfielder Karen MacPherson, also from Allen, Texas, hit two (out of three at bats) of Trinity’s six hits in the first game as a lead off batter.

The Trinity Tiger’s softball team will not play again until next week on Wednesday, March 9.  They will be hosting Evangel University in a double header.  After that the girls play several games but their next home games will not be until the last weekend in March, when they will be hosting three double headers.

The girls are looking forward to Conference games which will be beginning soon and are optimistic about the season.  They believe they have a good chance at being a winning team this year although they will be facing competitive teams.  The best of luck is wished to the Tiger’s softball team.
